Scandal Gladiators asked what was our favourite scene between Olivia and Fitz.
And for some reason, despite all the steamy sexy times and raw passionate speeches, this quiet scene just stuck in my head.
Maybe it’s the look on Fitz’s face after the kiss. Maybe it’s the fact that Olivia initiates the kiss. Maybe it’s the fact that she’s the first person to ask what Fitz wants, and why. Maybe it’s Fitz being adorable. Maybe it’s Fitz stepping up to the plate and being all Presidential even though the man only woke up from a coma that day. Maybe it’s because Olivia looks likes she belongs behind that desk.
Or maybe because it just encapsulates how brilliant a team those two are when they’re together.
Whatever it is, while it’s harder to choose a favourite Olitz scene than, well, choosing a favourite Olitz scene - I adore this small little moment with the passion of a thousand suns.
Thank you and totally understood as to why this is your choice <3 the partnership is palpable in this.
Right after “The Trail”, “A Criminal, A Whore, an Idiot and a Liar” is my second favorite Scandal episode of all time. This scene gets me each and every time for the same reason Kronos expressed.
The thing with Olitz there are so many beautiful scenes. There loves scenes have to be placed in a separate category. However, they are always at their best when they are together and the audience can feel and see that. This is one of my favorite scenes as well, because they had not seen each other since the shooting except for the brief phone call.
We know Fitz had been thinking about Olivia and we know how devastated she was from almost loosing him; being kept away from him by Mellie and having to plan his funeral. Liv doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeves but like many of us it doesn’t mean things don’t affect us deeply or we don’t love as deeply.
So when they saw each other and she took that handkerchief and mopped with face with such tenderness and love and kissed him you could see that it was like she literally breathe new life and love into Fitz. It was like a thirsty man lost in the desert who needed and found water to survive.
And the catch in LIv’s voice after she kissed Fitz told us the effect seeing him alive and touching him affected her and showed her love without words for him.
They make their audience believe in their once in a lifetime kind of love. This one scene shows they love each other for themselves and no other reason. Together they don’t make decision of what’s best for appearance sake but based on what the other person needs.
Spot-on commentary! That is the true beauty of Olitz. So much can be said between them with little to no words. It echoes all of their “One Minute” moments. This entire moment is “I watch for you. We’re in this together” personified. These two!
This moment is truly the beauty of Olitz being on the same page working together as a team. Love that proud look on her face! This took me back to when she told Abby that Fitz had something she could work with from “The Trail.” That look on her face mirrors the same ones here.

Olitz Parallel from “A Woman Scorned.”
Olivia and Fitz’s moment in Olivia’s apartment had parallels upon parallels but one particular parallel that I particularly loved is how open they are, truly, to each other.
I thought back to when Fitz cried in Olivia’s arms back in “A Criminal, A Whore, and an Idiot.”
I loved that after 21 minutes was up, Olivia came to him. Can we talk about how Fitz is sitting down and she comes to him? I loved that it was like he was on a bended knee and she accepted his proposal. It took me back to #PinGate when she gave him the pin. It took me back to their Rose Garden scene. This moment pulled all of that together with one kiss.
Hats off to the gif makers (fitzsgrant+ tonygoldwyns) because a screenshot will not fully illustrate the point I’m trying to make.
When Olitz puts down their Chinese Wall and let themselves open, good things happen like that open, blissful, honest “Hi” in the shower…and Fitz letting her see him.
These two moments were truly “You’re all I need to get by” personified! Sound off Gladiators!
We’ve seen that face before, y’all!
One way to annoy Fitzgerald Grant is to interrupt him while he’s in the processes of feasting on Olivia.
