Look At Me (by ILuvOlitz2) Scandal Rehab for 5.23.13. Summer Gladiator’s.
This was the moment I knew there was something much deeper between Olivia and Fitz. That slap. That question. That hip dip. That kiss. Sweet everlasting baby! Great. Scandal.moment.
Parallel: Olivia Pope and the times she pulled something out of a box.
Sweet Baby - Remember the time she pulled out a baby out of box? Remember how Stephen told OPA client that they should name their next child Olivia?
White Hat’s Back On - Remember the time Olivia pulled out literally a white hat out of a box? Who knew David Rosen has so much style savvy? That’s a custom made, white Louise Green Fedora that Olivia has on there. I thought it was a great nod to the fact her white hat is literally bigger than yours.

#ScandalSummerRewind - “Sweet Baby“
Kicking off tomorrow night at 10 (EST), I’m going to be watching all 29 episodes of Scandal. That’s one Scandal episode per week at 10 PM EST! I may live tweet as I watch.
Are you in?
Since we are in for a long long long ride, I’m gonna post a random Olitz clip until there are no more to be posted. I wish I was online from the beginning to get first reactions to what people thought about certain scenes.
“Say My Name”
What were your thoughts when you first saw this scene?
“What kind of coward was I, to marry her and not wait for you to show?” I have always love that fact that Fitz wears his heart on his sleeve.
I thought about a journey. Both of these individuals are on a bus going somewhere that we as an audience are unsure of. Olivia takes the first steps towards him out of concern for his feelings and losing a child. Fitz corrects this by telling her that his wife made it up, that his whole life is essentially made up. And then he tells her that he wished his journey had led him to her. That if he had a wife it would be her. If he had know she was out there he would have waited. Waited on his career. Waited on his marriage. Waited on his kids. If he hadn’t been a coward it would be her. She had been the one he’d been waiting for.
Olivia can’t acknowledge she feels the same way. Not at first. She puts up her work boundaries by calling him Governor but Fitz is tired of pretending. Tired of the roles he plays. And he wants to be just him. Just them for a little longer.
And they are on that bus and she makes the decision to go for it. She takes his hand and acknowledges she’s was waiting for him too. And as their bus rides to an undetermined destination they decide to do it together. Hand in hand.
Simply beautifully stated, Milton. What I also admire about this scene was basically Fitz telling her to say HIS name. Her saying his name (Fitz), her taking that first step to his seat and her holding his hand was her “Chinese walls” collapsing…for one minute. (I also love her facial expression before she walked over to his seat. She was thinking about her decision to see him.)
This echoed that moment on the plane when Fitz got the news his father died. This scene had the recipe of everything I loved about Olitz. They’re not pretending. They’re just themselves. If anything I loved that 211 got us a better understanding of WHY Fitz said what he said to Olivia. (Not to say we didn’t get it then but 211 expanded upon it. I also love how in season 2 Fitz let us in on the truth behind his marriage to Mellie too. I love how he touched upon Mellie’s political drive. She didn’t miss a beat. She kept it moving. We all saw how she played it with America’s Baby after their joint TV interview. She was so thrilled. Approval ratings were up. She was happy.)
Going back to this moment though. That tenderness. The way they looked at each other. That look said a whole lot right? That concern for him is real! That’s why I shake my head to this day about her ‘stolen moments’ speech. THIS IS IT! That was a moment to remember! She could have chosen NOT to go see Fitz right? She could have kept it professionally but there was as she told Abby there’s “something about him.” He had something she could work with. This echo the time Fitz told her to say it again when she called him “Mr. President.”
Olivia saying his name was the game-changer for their relationship at this moment. She made the first move. That hand connection though? That song choice though? The way he smiled at her though? Their journey together kicked off then and there. That double talk declaration on live TV. That elevator scene. That hallway scene. All of that led up to this precise moment when she finally made the first move. Prior to this moment, Fitz was the one that made the first move. That was what I got from this scene.
Scandal Meme: Quotes [1/6]
↳ Olivia Pope (1x03) “We’re never done. If we lose this round, we prep him for appeal. If we lose that, we prep him for a second appeal because what ever happens, there’s always another move. Whatever happens, we do not give up. It is my name on that door, and I do not give up.”
Huck, you need reeling in, you call me. I’ll come for you.
Just…one minute.
